Tiffany Lamps: Craftsmanship and Tradition

In the 19th century, stained glass was soldered with lead. Our table lamps have pieces of real glass soldered with tin, to meet the requirements of current standards.

Tiffany style lamps are inspired by the most beautiful ancient luminaires. They are generally of art deco or art nouveau style. The patinated metal base in bronze color reproduces the bases of ancient lighting.

The Tiffany models are varied, our collection offers table lamps and decorative objects, but also small bedside lamps for the bedroom for a cozy atmosphere. While for your living room, Tiffany floor lamps will be the ideal additional lighting.

About Louis Comfort Tiffany

The first lights made by the American artist were mainly decorated with flowers and animals in a purely art nouveau style. But from the 1910s to the 1930s, a new trend blew over furniture and decoration, especially with the Universal Exhibition of Paris in 1925. This marked the period of art and decoration. Art deco Tiffany lamps with lampshades of geometric stained glass were then highlighted.

Tiffany lamps were created at the end of the 19th century by Louis Comfort Tiffany, son of the famous jeweler Charles Lewis Tiffany. He was a renowned American artist and designer, known for his creations of colored glass. He also worked on other artistic projects, such as interior decoration and painting.

Tiffany was fascinated by European stained glass, especially medieval stained glass, and began to experiment with similar techniques in his workshop in New York. He developed a tin soldering technique that allowed the creation of complex patterns by assembling pieces of colored glass. The designs were often inspired by nature, with floral, animal, or geometric motifs.

Tiffany lamps were very popular at the time of their creation and became a symbol of the Art Nouveau movement. The lamps were often used in the homes of the American elite but were also popular in Europe.

After Tiffany's death in 1933, interest in Tiffany lamps declined. However, in the 1960s and 1970s, they became popular again, thanks to their timeless and elegant style.

Today, Tiffany lamps are still handmade using the original techniques of Tiffany. They are highly valued for their aesthetic beauty and quality of craftsmanship. Tiffany lamps are considered works of art and are often used to decorate homes, restaurants, hotels, and public spaces.

In addition to their beauty, Tiffany lamps also offer practical benefits. The colored glass diffuses a soft and warm light, creating a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere in any room. The complex patterns of each lamp create interesting shadows and lights on walls and ceilings, adding an additional dimension to your interior decoration.

The quality of craftsmanship of Tiffany lamps ensures a long lifespan and resistance to shocks and wear. The tin welds ensure the strength of the lamp's structure, even after many years of use.

In addition to table lamps and chandeliers, Tiffany wall lights are a popular option for wall lighting. Tiffany wall lights are wall fixtures that provide a soft and warm light, while adding a touch of elegance to any room.

For your Tiffany light fixture, you can use classic or economical bulbs. Like LED bulbs with standard E14 (small sockets) or E27 (normal sockets) screw. The lights are equipped with a switch and a block wire system. They are sold electrified and have received CE and RoHS certification (guaranteed lead-free and mercury-free).

A Tiffany lamp of about 40 cm in height will have a diameter of about 25 cm, in each product sheet you will find the dimensions indicated. Your light fixture will be shipped in a custom-made and shock-proof crate, within 24 to 48 hours.

Benefits of Tiffany Lamps

Besides their aesthetic beauty, Tiffany lamps offer many practical benefits. First, the colored glass diffuses a soft and warm light, creating a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere in any room.

Moreover, the complex patterns of each lamp create interesting shadows and lights on the walls and ceilings, adding an additional dimension to your interior decoration. Finally, the quality of craftsmanship of Tiffany lamps ensures a long lifespan and resistance to shocks and wear.

How are Tiffany Lamps Assembled?

Tiffany lamps are assembled by hand using a tin soldering technique. Each piece of glass is hand-cut to perfectly fit its place in the lamp's pattern. The edges of the glass pieces are then wrapped in copper foil to reinforce and protect them.

Tin is then used to solder each piece of glass to its neighbor, thus creating a complex and luminous pattern. The tin soldering also allows Tiffany lamps to retain their shape and strength, even after many years of use.
